A “Mountain Cab” personality of crushed rocks, briar patch and intense blue and black fruits is evident in the Black Cordon Cabernet Sauvignon 2013. Fruit comes from the owners’ Home Vineyard above Oak Knoll District (west side), Atlas Peak, Howell Mountain and Coombsville (All vineyards owned by Black Cordon). Smell and taste pomegranate syrup, dark red cherry, cedar and tobacco, ripe blueberry and that of-the-earth sensation of pulverized granite. Ample amount of fine tannins and uplifting acidity put this squarely in the “serious” and age-worthy zone.

About Black Cordon

David and Karen Dunphy launched Black Cordon in the mid 2000s with their home “Black Cordon Vineyard” that looks over north Napa on the west side (Oak Knoll Bench, if you will). Over time they have purchased vineyard on Howell Mountain and Pritchard Hill as well as Coombsville. Paul Hobbs has been their winemaker since the beginning. All the wines, including their second label Sixteen by Twenty, are delicious, thoughtful wines that express both their provenance and vintage.  Check out all the DDWA recommended wines from Black Cordon here.
