Chelsea is an Estate vineyard halfway between Calistoga and Santa Rosa, on the Sonoma side of the county line. Dark red cherry, pomegranate and black currant fruits jump from the glass along with savory layers of cigar wrapper, dried marjoram and tarragon and cola. Possesses a sweet, ripe core (14.9% alcohol) with ideal acidity to keep it all fresh and inviting. Smooth tannins, great mouthfeel, ready to drink now. Good luck finding a better $36 Cab than Chelsea Cabernet Sauvignon! This easily makes my Best of the Best List.
More Information
Chelsea Vineyard is smack dab in between Calistoga and Santa Rosa. The winery described their location better than I can: “Our five acre parcel of land is just a ‘corks throw’ past the Napa County/Sonoma County line and at the epicenter of four of California’s most exciting American Viticulture Areas (AVAs): Knights Valley, Diamond Mountain, Calistoga, and Fountain Grove. As the AVA powers at be would have it, we are the North-Eastern most vineyard in one of Sonoma County’s newest AVAs: Fountain Grove.”
