The Domaine des Girasols Cotes du Rhone “Tombaronne” 2017, a blend of 65% Grenache, 21% Syrah and 14% Cinsault is, to my palate, the perfect wine for burger nights and evenings around the pool or on the patio. Hot, sun-soaked Mediterranean climate Grenache explains the dark, jammy strawberry and black/white peppercorns. All that plus black licorice and dried thyme put this wine solidly in the Southern Rhone category. Give me 5-10 of these over one bottle of “luxury wine” any day.
