From “Schwartz Vineyard” in Napa’s Coombsville District, Southeast Napa Valley, where the climate for Napa Cab is slightly cooler than up north. Co-owner/winemaker Ryan Knoth controls the farming of the vineyard and tends to the vines using organic and sustainable practices. From there, he uses his deft hand to make a rich yet restrained, complex and beguiling Cabernet Sauvignon. In the fruit category, smell & taste ripe blackberries, dark plums, blueberries and black cherries. On the savory side, get fresh violets, cedar, unlit fancy cigar and roast poblano peppers. Fine tannins, multi-layered and an expansive 25 second finish is most impressive. Micro production Cab at 115 cases made. I highly recommend this Napa Cabernet to, perhaps, diversify your cellar. Â
