Welcome to Marin County Cabernet Sauvignon! Too cool for the grape generally, Pacheco Ranch in the northeastern corner of Marin is comparable to (warmer) Carneros in climate. I really like and recommend this wine, but stress that it’s not for all palates. This is Cabernet Sauvignon with little cover-up. Cassis, dark green olive, dark red plums, roast coffee beans, pipe tobacco smells and flavors penetrate the senses. Medium/high acidity (for California Cab), integrated tannins and medium/light oak. It’s more like Sonoma Syrah or Cabernet Franc than “typical” Napa Valley Cab Sauv.
