Dry aged-beef, black licorice and dried wild mushroom (umami!) generously frame black cherry liqueur and dark pomegranate smells and flavors in the 2003 Pella Cabernet Sauvignon. This hefty, rich Cab is in its prime: softened tannins, medium acidity, lovely bottle bouquet, plenty of youthful fruit swirling about. Drink this classic, aged Napa Cab with a high-quality cut of beef or lamb. No time to skimp here – get the best you can to go with this wine.
More Information
Pella Cabernets are owned & made by the miniscule “mom & pop” KNA Winery. Pella is their daughter. KNA recently released a five year vertical, 2003 to 2007, of “Star Lane” Cabernet from Rutherford, Napa Valley floor. I’m a particular fan of this 2003 as well as their 2006.
