There’s a number of ways a wine can have “it.” In the case of Ride Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2020, the “it” is particularly obvious and, from my experience, universal in agreed it-ness. That is: rich, dark, smooth, almost-sweet in its ripeness, spicy/oaky frame. You know the style. Many eschew it verbally but drink it in the dark, on their couch, watching SNL.
Tasting notes: black cherry liqueur, cocoa, Tootsie Roll, toasty, thickness, tannins ironed silky smooth like a linen shirt. Pure pleasure. This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 75% new French oak barrels. Wish I knew how they harvested Napa Cabernet in 2020 at the level of ripeness to achieve its 15.2% alcohol. Maybe they (Remie Jorgensen – winemaker, Maayan Koschitzky – partner) will tell me. Get some of this while you can.
