Very Good Value

Napa Valley producer with Paul Hobbs-consulting winemaker. The Sixteen by Twenty Cabernet grapes come from a handful of Hobbs’ favorite vineyards for his and his clients’ wines. Typical of 2014 Napa Cab, this is drinking great now. Get blue and black berry/cherry, tobacco, olive, cocoa and ripe plum smells and flavors. Cabernet’s natural dry herb and cassis character peaks through, which I like very much…some don’t. Sports uplifting acidity, fine tannins and a multi-faceted character.

About Black Cordon

David and Karen Dunphy launched Black Cordon in the mid 2000s with their home “Black Cordon Vineyard” that looks over north Napa on the west side (Oak Knoll Bench, if you will). Over time they have purchased vineyard on Howell Mountain and Pritchard Hill as well as Coombsville. Paul Hobbs has been their winemaker since the beginning. All the wines, including their second label Sixteen by Twenty, are delicious, thoughtful wines that express both their provenance and vintage.  Check out all the DDWA recommended wines from Black Cordon and Sixteen by Twenty here.
